2170.1 Corporate Investigation.

We seemed to show a flare for espionage and infiltration rather than the normal Colonial Marine attitude of blow the front door down. We were assigned to look after an auditor while he done his work down at NAS Corporation, those guys don't arf seem to be well equipped for security guards. With these guys finding irregularities wasn't hard it was staying alive long enough to present the evidence. We were lucky on this job because the local militia must have been marine rejects with their untrained and thoughtless diversionary tactics

It was here that I met Jannie, she was one of the computer programmers working for NAS Corp., we seemed to get on really well and seven months later we were married. These corporations even though they were part of the ICC were the reason for a lot of our work. The corporations had out grown the old days of governments. They would now do pretty much as they like. But someone still needed to protect the civilians, the corporations didn't care they had there own Security and Militia and if you wasn't on their payroll you were either a commodity or nothing . And nothing ain't worth nothing. The corporations had to look after their acquisitions and property so they invested heavily in their security, their big bucks bought large R&D labs and soon our weapons became old hat.

Going up against a corporation was never easy and with each day they were making it harder. Their technology can be gained for a price, but the United Nations of Earth can't afford them because they still have civilians to look after. That's why Colonial Marines are far and few between, we are an expensive resource.
